Welcome to Wall Paintings for the 2020s

This site replaces and builds on the Medieval Wall Paintings website which was created by Dr Ellie Pridgeon in around 2011.

Dr Ellie Pridgeon is a researcher in medieval and post-medieval wall paintings in the UK and beyond. She has published widely in field of medieval and post-medieval wall paintings, and archives. She also researches church monuments and paintings, particularly those located within chantry chapel contexts, e.g. Stoke Dry (Rutland), St Mary Redcliffe, and Westbury-on-Trym (Bristol). Ellie has also published on John Piper stained glass in conjunction with Pianist and Musicologist Dr Andrew Plant, including the panels at Wiltshire Museum (Devizes) and the Benjamin Britten memorial window in Aldeburgh church (Suffolk).

Ellie currently teaches for the University of Cambridge and Leicester Vaughan College and has previously worked for the University of Leicester, the University of Winchester, the University of Bristol, the University of Oxford, and the University of Richmond (London).
